Wildfire season is coming. Are you ready? Ashland Fire & Rescue and the Ashland Wildfire Safety Commission bring you a 3-month spring wildfire preparedness campaign.
Now is the time to Prepare Your Home! While you are more homebound than usual as you shelter indoors during the Coronavirus outbreak, take time to clean up yard debris, move stored combustibles from against your home and under your deck, and clean out your rain gutters. Also prune overgrown vegetation around your home.

Most years, May is the month we urge Ashland residents to prepare their home environments to either evacuate or shelter indoors, depending on the situation if a wildfire is approaching. Of course, this year many of us are already sheltering indoors due to Coronavirus. Take stock of what recommended "shelter indoors" supplies you may lack in a wildfire context, as wildfire presents different challenges compared to the current COVID-19 crisis.
-The Ready, Set, Go! (RSG!) program is utilized by Ashland Fire & Rescue to help educate residents on what to expect in the event of a disaster related evacuation. The tenets of Ready, Set, Go! help residents be Ready with preparedness understanding, be Set with situational awareness when fire threatens, and to Go!, leaving promptly when evacuation orders are given or when safety feels compromised.
