Ashland has a Mayor/City Manager form of government, with much of the City's business evolves through citizen committees, which enhance public support and political stability.
The City Council is elected to serve as the governing body for Ashland's 20,960 residents (PSU Population Research Center certified population for 2019). The Mayor, who presides at the Council meetings, is elected at-large for a four year term. Six Council members are elected at-large for four year staggered terms.
Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main Street. The Study Sessions are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. **As of April 6, 2020, all City Council meetings will be held electronically via Zoom.
