FITNESS & MOVEMENTBroadway Dance for Boomers
 
Gentle Yoga / Indoor Class
The focus of this one-hour hatha yoga class is to increase strength, flexibility and balance while simultaneously alleviating stress and fatigue. Additional benefits of regular yoga practice include an overall sense of well-being and an increase in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Participants must be aware of their own capabilities in order to participate safely. Ability to get up and down from the floor is required. Each class will conclude with deep relaxation. Please bring your own yoga mat; other props will be provided. If public health guidelines change and indoor, in-person classes are not possible, this class will move to Zoom.

Line Dancing is a great way to keep your brain on its toes! It enhances balance, provides fitness and strength and improves mental acuity through complex movement. No partner is required. Call to register: 541.488.5342.

Tai Chi / Indoor Class
Tai Chi is a moving meditation that strengthens bones and muscles, improves balance and increases flexibility. Qi Gong, the movement of energy through the body, is also incorporated. Join the class to learn or continue practicing Tai Chi!

Please sign up for the appropriate level class for your ability and experience:
  • Introductory (Tuesdays): This class is for newcomers to Tai Chi.
  • Beginning (Thursdays): This class is for those continuing to learn forms and continuing practice of Tai Chi. It is not appropriate for newcomers.
  • Intermediate (Mondays): This class is for continuing practice of Tai Chi for students who are well-versed in Tai Chi forms. Prior Tai Chi experience is required.

Senior Walkabouts / Outdoor Activity
Come enjoy some fresh air, exercise, and good company! A volunteer guide will lead this 8-week walking group in and around Garfield Park. Walks will be held at a gentle pace and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Routes will stay on accessible paths. Please meet at the volleyball court in Garfield Park five minutes before start time. Walks will take place rain or shine; please dress accordingly. No dogs as leashes are a tripping hazard.
