Write Your Memoir / Indoor Class - CLASS FULL (as of 2/9/24)
Learn how to write your own memoir! After introduction to popular memoirs and writing prompts, you’ll be provided helpful tools to determine your audience, personal writing voice and the type of memoir you want to develop. There will time during each class to write a paragraph or two for sharing. Bring a pen and notebook, or iPad or laptop.

Healthy Brain & Aging / Indoor Class - CLASS FULL (as of 2/5/24)
Jennine Greenwell, Older Adult Behavior Health Specialist with Jackson County Health & Human Services is teaching this free, four-part series. Using a positive strength-based approach, students will set goals and learn about the impact of various activities on health and brain health. Topics covered weekly include: Sleep, Social Engagement, Physical Activity and Cognitive Stimulation.

FITNESS & MOVEMENT
Gentle Yoga / Indoor Class
The focus of this one-hour hatha yoga class is to increase strength, flexibility and balance while simultaneously alleviating stress and fatigue. Additional benefits of regular yoga practice include an overall sense of well-being and an increase in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Participants must be aware of their own capabilities in order to participate safely. Ability to get up and down from the floor is required. Each class will conclude with deep relaxation. Please bring your own yoga mat; other props will be provided. If public health guidelines change and indoor, in-person classes are not possible, this class will move to Zoom.

Line Dancing 1 / Indoor Class
Line Dancing is a great way to keep your brain on its toes! It enhances balance, provides fitness and strength and improves mental acuity through complex movement. No partner is required. Line Dancing 1 is an ongoing class for newcomers and beginners.

For newcomers to Line Dancing! This review session is free, but registration is required for Line Dancing 1 (see above).

NEW Sections! Personalized Strength & Balance Training / Indoor Class
Enjoy small group personal training that helps prevent and reverse physical declines associated with aging. Each session meets twice a week for a month, excluding holidays. This program focuses on muscle, cardio and bone health, brain health, and body awareness.  Each participant will get a customized plan and several instructor check-ins by phone and email to review goals and progress. While designed for most fitness levels, participants must be able to get up off the floor unassisted. Equipment will be provided. Add life to your years and years to your life!

NEW! Virtual Personalized Strength & Balance Training / Online Class
This virtual class is a low-impact class that is designed for seniors who may not be able to participate in the in-person Personalized Strength & Balance training class. There will be no on-the-floor work or jumping movements. The class will focus on joint strength, mobility, and balance. Students need a camera on their computer, an exercise band, a chair, light weights, a little floor space and a wall. Class will be held over Zoom, with periodic instructor check-ins by phone. Zoom link will be emailed before first class.   • Tai Chi 3 (Mondays): This class is for continuing practice of Tai Chi for students who are well-versed in Tai Chi forms. Prior Tai Chi experience is required.

Senior Walkabouts / Outdoor Activity
Come enjoy some fresh air, exercise, and good company! A volunteer guide will lead this 8-week walking group near the Dog Park. Walks will be held at a gentle pace and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Routes will stay on accessible paths. Please meet at the Dog Park parking lot, at 950 Perozzi St, five minutes before start time. Walks will take place rain or shine; please dress accordingly. No dogs as leashes are a tripping hazard.
