Ice Cream Social for Seniors & their Families

UPCOMING EVENTS with Ashland Senior Services Division

Free social and cultural events or educational workshops on topics of interest to seniors and their families are offered at Ashland Senior Center or occasionally other locations. Our partner AARP offers the six -hour Smart Driver course once per quarter. Jackson County Library Services is currently teaching a monthly series on Technology Basics. Current offerings are listed below. We do our best to keep our website updated with our current activities and events, but occasionally fall behind in updating. Please call for current status: 541.488.5342.

Firefighters' Thanksgiving Dinner

The annual Firefighters' Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors is back! Join us for a wonderful evening of delicious food and good company. Dinner is prepared and served by Ashland Firefighters Union members. Space is limited so please reserve your spot soon!

Join us for a festive holiday party with refreshments, music and gifts! Our sponsor Village at Valley View will be providing snacks, cookies, and beverages.  Louis Urban Kohler and his students from the OLLI French Caroling class will perform carols in French. They will also lead the audience in some holiday songs in English. Rotary Club of Ashland will be passing out gifts. Registration is required and space is limited, so please sign up soon.

Health and Wellbeing for Older Adults

Instructor: Jennine Greenwell, MA, QMHA, Older Adult Behavioral Specialist with Jackson County Health and Human Services

This class will provide the tools to navigate and improve your quality of life, unique to you, with opportunities to live and thrive in the Rogue Valley. Topics addressed will include: living well/healthy aging, loneliness/social isolation, self-care, healthy stress relief, gratitude, self-compassion/acceptance, when to seek professional help, what to do in a crisis, age-friendly healthcare, and Rogue Valley older adult resources. 
                    
Quirky Ashland History

Come hear fascinating stories and see photos from Ashland’s past. From “You won’t believe what kids sold at the railroad depot” to "a fifth-generation local family business," you are sure to learn something new that will make you smile. Longtime Ashland resident and founder of WalkAshland.com, Peter Finkle, will recount these little-known tales, most from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Ashland Japanese Garden: Guided Walk for Seniors & FriendsAshland Japanese Garden
Wednesday, March 5, 1-3pm
Meet at front entrance of the Japanese Garden, facing Winburn Way

Join us for a free, guided walk of the beautiful Japanese Garden in Lithia Park. Enjoy the spring blossoms and learn about this world-class new addition to Ashland! The walk will be led by our own Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission Director, Michael Black. This walk will be held at a slow pace and stay on accessible paths, to accommodate any participants with limited mobility issues.
