UPCOMING EVENTS with Ashland Senior Services Division

Free social and cultural events or educational workshops on topics of interest to seniors and their families are offered at Ashland Senior Center or occasionally other locations. Our partner AARP offers the six -hour Smart Driver course once per quarter. Jackson County Library Services is currently teaching a monthly series on Technology Basics. Healthy Brain & Aging - CLASS FULL (as of 2/5/24)
Wednesdays, February 14 & 28 and March13 & 27, 12:30-2pm

This class promotes brain health and quality of life in aging.  It’s a free four-part class series that will provide education and skills to boost a healthy brain as you age.  Be ready for active participation and home practice of skills to help you meet your personalized goals.  Topics covered weekly include:  Social Activity, Sleep, Physical Activity, and Cognitive Stimulation. Taught by Jennine Greenwell, Older Adult Behavior Health Specialist with Jackson County Health & Human Services.

Japanese Garden Tour: Guided Walk for Seniors & Friendsjap garden

Join us for a free, guided tourof the beautiful Japanese Garden in Lithia Park. Enjoy the spring blossoms and learn about this world-class new addition to Ashland. The walk will be held at a slow pace and stay on accessible paths, to accommodate any participants with mobility limitations. Please meet at the front entrance of the Japanese Garden, facing Winburn Way. Parking is avail­able in lots up or down the hill.
This walk will be led by Patty Winner, volunteer with Ashland Senior Services Division and at the Japanese Garden.

Learn health actions to prepare for summer smoke. Partners from Smokewise Ashland will provide a free air filter and fan to build your own filter, a $50 value! Topics will include: Build a DIY air filter, Local Resources for AQI and smoke information, Emergency Notifications, Selecting an air purifier, Low-cost solutions for improved indoor air, Making a Clean Room.
