CERT – Neighbors Helping Neighbors… Are you ready?
CERT’s (Community Emergency Response Team) Basic Academy will be held this fall. This is an opportunity for the citizens of Ashland to learn how to help themselves, their families and ultimately the community in the event of a disaster.
CERT basic training is a free program offered to the Ashland community two times per year. The course consists of approximately 20 hours of instruction that covers a wide array of topics. The course builds a solid foundational knowledge of disaster operations.
Training modules include:
CERT Organization & ICS (Incident Command System)
Disaster Medical Operations
Disaster Preparedness
Disaster Psychology
Fire Safety & Hazardous Materials
Urban Search & Rescue
Terrorism Awareness
Two-way Radio Communications
Real-life Disaster Simulation
The fall 2023 schedule is as follows*:
Friday, October 6, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 7, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday, October 13, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 14, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
*Participants must attend and complete all training modules in full to become certified.
