Ashland has a Mayor/Council form of government, with a professional City Administrator. Much of the City's business evolves through citizen committees, which enhance public support and political stability.
The City Council is elected to serve as the governing body for Ashland's 25,274 residents. The Mayor, who presides at the Council meetings, is elected at-large for a four year term. Six Council members are elected at-large for four year staggered terms.
Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main Street. The Study Sessions are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. City Council meetings are
broadcast live on channel 9. Charter Communications customers will find city meetings on channels 180 and 181. Meetings also stream live on the internet at rvtv.sou.edu. For more information, call the Administration at (541) 488-6002.
