Successful Controlled Burn Wraps up for the Weekend
Crews burned 25 acres today before shutting down early to let smoke dissipate. The wind direction was taking smoke west toward Medford and concerns of downwind impacts to people made us call it off early.
Like last night, there will likely be light smoke in Ashland overnight. Smoke may linger in the morning before clearing out in the later morning. If you are smoke sensitive, please keep your windows shut and run an air purifier as needed and avoid outdoor activity in the later evening or early morning. You can check the AQI reading at www.smokewiseashland.org.
Crews will be on site this weekend putting out hot spots and monitoring the burn, but no more burning is planned until winds are more favorable. Importantly, excellent burn conditions helped achieve more of the important work of getting good fire back into our fire dependent ecosystem and building more resiliency into our watershed's forests.
