Controlled Burning Continues at High Elevation

On Friday, December 10th, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will continue high elevation controlled burning above Reeder Reservoir (source of Ashland's drinking water) off the Ashland Loop Road. With good burn conditions at high elevations, AFR is making steady progress for improved forest health and community wildfire safety.

ANTICIPATED SMOKE IMPACT:

  • Lingering smoke is expected to improve through afternoon and smoke from today's burn is forecasted to stay high on the hill and move away from town. An incoming weather system should clear out smoke tonight with snow on Saturday squelching smoldering debris.
  • Smoke not expected to further impact town from today's burn, but will be visible from several parts of the community including Interstate 5.
  • Avoid recreating where smoke is lingering today until conditions clear up.
