Four Controlled Burns Planned on Wednesday, March 6th: Ashland Loop Road and Windemar Drive

Update:  Two additional pile burns will be managed due to good burn conditions in Lithia Park and off Patrick Lane.
  1. In Lithia Park, a controlled burn to consume piles will begin this morning. Please avoid trails near the controlled burn if you are sensitive to smoke.
  2. A controlled burn was added off Patrick Lane near Ashland Mine Road. The neighborhood around Ashland Mine Road may have some smoke and the burn will be visible from Interstate 5 and North of Ashland.
  3. A controlled burn to consume piles may impact Forest Service Road 2060 (Ashland Loop Road) above Reeder Reservoir and the surrounding area. The Ashland Loop Road passes near the area that will be burned. We recommend finding alternative trails in Siskiyou Mountain Park and on the east side of the watershed off Tolman Creek Road.
  4. Finally, a fourth pile burn is south of Ashland off Windemar Drive. Smoke could impact the neighborhood around Windemar and Timberlake Drives. Smoke will be visible from Interstate 5 and on the south side of Ashland.

Thank you for your patience as we complete controlled burns to increase fire safety for our community.

The Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project (AFR) is a collaborative forest restoration project that reduces the risk of severe wildfire across public and private land in and around the Ashland Watershed by thinning overcrowded forests and conducting controlled burns.
