Controlled Burn Planned Near Jackson Wellsprings
On Friday January 26th, crews with Lomakatsi Restoration Project will be continue a controlled burn on Frankhill Road above Jackson Wellspring on the northwestern side of Ashland. Crews will ignite piles on 20 acres between 8:00AM and 9:00AM. Smoke will be visible from Highway 99 and Interstate-5.
Our partners Lomakatsi Restoration Project, City of Ashland Oregon, U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and The Nature Conservancy in Oregon make this
project possible.
Burn bosses will check weather conditions to ensure burns happen under conditions optimal for smoke to move away from town, though citizens may smell light smoke at times.
Controlled burns under safe conditions reduce the risk of severe summer wildfires and prolonged, dense smoke and protect our forests, water supply, economy, and community. Visit ashlandwatershed.org for updates.
