Reopening to Follow Governor’s Orders, Oregon Health Authority, and Jackson County Public Health Directions

Jackson County has been approved by the Governor’s Office and Oregon Health Authority to move ahead in a Phase 1 reopening as of May 15. The City of Ashland will follow guidelines laid out by the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Health and Human Services. Citizens should understand that the City government, including Ashland Police Department, does not have enforcement authority during this public health emergency.

During Phase 1, Jackson County Public Health recommends that everyone use a face covering, such as a cloth or paper mask while out in public settings, especially in settings that are indoors where it may be difficult to ensure that you can stay six feet away from others at all times. Everyone will still need to practice physical distancing by maintaining six feet between individuals as much as possible. Finally, everyone should continue to follow good hygiene and disinfection practices. A rise in COVID-19 cases is expected during the reopening process.

For people who are at risk of developing severe complications from COVID-19, it is best that you continue to stay home as much as possible, even if you feel well. It will still be important that everyone stay close to home, avoiding overnight trips and minimize other non-essential travel, including recreational day trips to destinations outside the community where you live.

Here’s a list of resources for Phase I of reopening:
The Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission has also released information about changes to access and activities in City Parks and public spaces. City and Parks offices will remain closed during Phase I with existing alternative access to all available City and Parks services remaining in place.
