Volunteer Spirit Community Service Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the James M. Ragland Award

City of Ashland logo In an effort to recognize the contribution of public sector volunteers, the Mayor and City Council present the annual Volunteer Spirit Community Service Award in memory of James M. Ragland. Through Mr. Ragland’s involvement in numerous public sector volunteer efforts, he contributed significantly to the physical and social fabric of the community that we enjoy today.

The award criteria is based on public sector volunteer services performed, length of service, absence of adequate recognition in the past, and any other attributes the nominee may have that should be regarded. Consideration is also given to people who volunteer hours beyond their regular workday to perform a service that benefits the community.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Wednesday, January 3, 2024. For more information and to complete the online nomination form, please visit ashland.or.us/Ragland. The award will be presented at the 2024 Town Hall Gathering on Wednesday, January 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Rogue River Room at Southern Oregon University. More on the 2024 Town Hall at ashland.or.us/CoaTownHall. We look forward to reviewing your submissions.
