Two Burns Planned Monday, April 23rd, Ashland Loop Road Closure

Update 4/23/2018: The Ashland Loop Road is open for recreation. Please be aware that trails in Siskiyou Mountain Park are currently affected by smoke from a controlled burn and it is recommended that you use trail on the west side of the watershed including area around Acid Castle Rocks. Stay informed by checking our website.

With warm weather, we have an opportunity to use good fire for community protection and forest health with two burns planned for Monday, April 23rd. One burn will be near the top of Siskiyou Mountain Park between White Rabbit trailhead and Lamb Saddle and the other burn will be on the 2060 road 1.5 miles above the swimming reservoir on Granite Street.

There's only one closure needed:

2060 road (Ashland Loop Road) 1.5 miles above the end of Granite St (swimming reservoir). Don't plan to descend the Loop Road from trails above the burn.

Trails that will likely be affected by smoke are:

Caterpillar, Lizard, top of Red Queen and Jabberwocky, White Rabbit near Ashland Loop Road, upper Mike Uhtoff, and eastern portion of Toothpick near Lamb Saddle.

Light smoke may affect nearby neighborhoods, especially in the evening hours. These include upper Granite St, upper Park St, Crestview, upper Clay St, and the whole Green Meadows area.

Residents sensitive to smoke should avoid exposure by staying inside, closing windows, and filtering air by following recommendations at ashland.or.us/smoke.
