Online open house for the 2019 Water Master Plan Update

The City of Ashland is hosting an online open house for the 2019 Water Master Plan Update

Ashland's Water Master Plan (WMP) identifies the water infrastructure improvements that are essential to keeping current with population growth, to meeting regulatory requirements, to delivering adequate services and to protecting public health and the environment. The Water Master Plan is a road map for assessing utility infrastructure needs that meets the water demands of a community and sets up a financial plan on how to pay for improvements. It is updated to remain relevant and accurate and to meet present and future water needs of the community. Development of the WMP was guided by the Ashland Water Advisory Committee (AWAC). The AWAC Committee has a long history in development of water master planning documents as they also helped guide the 2012 Comprehensive Water Master Plan along with the Water Management and Conservation Plan. The Climate Policy Commission also provided input on the plan that was incorporated into the Executive Summary and Capital Improvement Chapters that tie the document to the Climate Energy Action Plan and the City’s climate goals.

The online open house also includes a short survey of pertinent questions regarding priorities for the water system. All surveys and comments will be compiled and presented before the City Council, when the Council is asked to adopt the WMP.
