Mayor Stromberg called the Study Session to order at 5:30 PM.
 
Members present were:
 
Councilors’ Slattery, Graham, Akins, Seffinger, Rosenthal and Jensen were present.

  1. Presentation of Recommendations by Wildfire Safety Commission
Wildfire Safety Division Chief Chris Chambers introduced Wildfire Safety Commission Chair Stephen Gagne and Fire Adapted Communities Coordinator Katie Gibble.
 
Gagne read the recommendations submitted by the Commission (see attached).
 
Items discussed were:
  • Fire-Adapted Communities Program Expansion Activities.
  • Hazardous Vegetation and Fuels Abatement in Developed Areas.
  • Emergency Response and Evacuations Preparedness.
  • Ashland Forest Resilience and watershed Fuels Treatments Program.
  • Fire Prevention.
 
Council discussed the recommendations.
 
Council discussed a prioritization process.
 
Council discussed Weed Abatement.
 
  1. Update on Fire Chief Recruitment
Interim City Administrator Adam Hanks gave a Staff Report.
Items discussed were:
  • Recruitment.
  • Utilizing Fire District 3 as a fill-in for Ashland’s Fire Chief Role through the development of an Inter-Governmental Agreement.
  • Fiscal Impacts.
  • Suggested next steps.
