Walking Tours in Ashland's Historic District

Walking Tours in Ashland’s Historic District, sponsored by the Historic Preservation AdvisoryHistoric Walking Tour in Ashland Committee

As part of the Ashland Historic Preservation Advisory Committee’s celebration of Historic Preservation Week, the Committee is sponsoring two historic district walking tours to be led by local historian, writer and founder of walkashland.com Peter Finkle.

“Walking through Time in Downtown Ashland”
Wednesday, May 17, from approximately 1:30 to 3 p.m.
We will "walk through time" in the form of stories about people and buildings in historic Lithia Park, Granite Street and the Ashland Plaza. This tour will begin immediately following the Historic Preservation Awards ceremony at Lithia Park’s Butler Bandshell.  The walking tour will include walking up and down stairs, as well as walking on sidewalks.  Historic Commissioners will gather for a “no host bar” meet & greet after the walking tour (at approximately 3 p.m.) at Skout Taphouse & Provisions at 21 Winburn Way.

“Walking through Time in the Railroad District”
Saturday, May 20, from 10:30 a.m. to approximately Noon
We will "walk through time" in the form of stories about people and buildings in the historic Railroad District.  The tour will begin at the corner of A Street and Fifth Street, in front of the Depot Hotel kitchen building, and we’ll be walking on sidewalks.

Each of these tours is limited to 20 participants, and pre-registration is required.  If you’d like to join the tour, please pre-register by emailing derek.severson@ashland.or.us with your name, contact info and which tour you’d like to attend.
