ODOT Project on Ashland Street to provide additional pedestrian crossings

Project on Ashland St

An ODOT (Oregon Department of Transportation) project will begin on Monday, October 23, 2023, on Ashland Street on the southeast end of Ashland. Pedestrian crossings will be added near Washington Street and YMCA Way.

Islands will also be constructed in the roadway to provide additional safety to pedestrians who are crossing the street. The RVTD (Rogue Valley Transportation District) bus stop on Ashland Street, at the Shop ‘n Kart parking lot, will be moved temporarily 50’ toward the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. RVTD will provide temporary signage to alert bus riders of the change that will be in effect from Monday, October 23 through Sunday, November 5.

The pedestrian crossings and islands will not interfere with emergency vehicles or traffic, and it will not prevent or delay any emergency procedures in the area. The project will be completed by the end of November 2023.
