As part of a project to update the City's Wildfire Risk Assessment, a contractor will be flying an Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS), commonly called a drone, over Ashland for two weeks beginning March 7, 2024. The UAS will be collecting LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data, a method that's been used in Ashland several times in the past by local and state agencies. To find out more about the LiDAR project, what it entails, and any concerns please see the web page dedicated to the project:
Ashland Wildfire Risk Assessment Update.
For additional information on upcoming work in the Ashland Watershed, see the
Forest Adaptation Project page.
