UPCOMING EVENTS with Ashland Senior Services Division

Free social and cultural events or educational workshops on topics of interest to seniors and their families are offered at Ashland Senior Center or occasionally other locations. Our partner AARP offers the six -hour Smart Driver course once per quarter. Jackson County Library Services is currently teaching a monthly series on Technology Basics. How to be Smokewise - FREE In-Person Class (for those age 50+)

Instructors:  Sara Jones, Community Engagement Coordinator for the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project and Brian Hendrix, Fire Adapted Communities Coordinator with Ashland Fire & Rescue's Wildfire Division.
Learn what you can do to reduce your exposure to smoke from wildfires and controlled burns. ​​​​​​​Space is limited so sign up soon! A free air purifier will be provided to one participant with the drawing held after the class. *Must be present to win.*

Survival Prep for Seniors: Beyond the "Go" Bag

Join Bill Bateman to learn how to address the overall process of "prepping" for older adults. Learn what a "go" bag is and the questions that surround it: How much do they cost? Is it an actual "bag"? What goes inside and where to get it? How many do I need and where do I keep them? You will get links and recommendations to take home. Fieldtrip to Britt Festival OrchestraBritt logo

Join us on our annual outing to The Britt! This year we'll enjoy the Britt Festival Orchestra's performance of works by Ravel, Sibelius and Reid, among others. Thank you to Britt for providing tickets and transportation for this event. Only 50 tickets available so reserve your spot soon!

*Transportation provided to and from Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville: Bus leaves Ashland Senior Center at 7pm, returns around 11pm. Please arrive by 6:45pm to ensure a timely bus departure. There is limited disabled access for the bus, bathrooms and event seating.

Drumtastic Beats for All Ages

Come learn some fun and easy drumming techniques in beautiful Hunter Park! Taught by Garbriel Globus-Hoenich, a visiting percussionist with Britt, and Bryan Jeffs, a local percussionist. Bring your grandkids or other youth in your life for a fun, all ages activity. Drums will be provided, or bring your own if you have one. Co-sponsored by Britt.

Local author Sue DeMarinis will read from and discuss her latest novel, Hidden in Haarlem, and sign books. Join us for music and fun in Hunter Park at Ashland Senior Center! Village at Valley View is generously donating all the supplies for delicious ice cream sundaes, as well as an alternative of fruit salad or diabetic ice cream. Featuring a performance by the Ashland Brass Band.
