Free social and cultural events or educational workshops on topics of interest to seniors and their families are offered at Ashland Senior Center or occasionally other locations. Our partner AARP offers the six -hour Smart Driver course once per quarter. Jackson County Library Services is currently teaching a monthly series on Technology Basics. Health and Wellbeing for Older Adults

This class will provide the tools to navigate and improve your quality of life, unique to you, with opportunities to live and thrive in the Rogue Valley. Topics addressed will include: living well/healthy aging, loneliness/social isolation, self-care, healthy stress relief, gratitude, self-compassion/acceptance, when to seek professional help, what to do in a crisis, age-friendly healthcare, and Rogue Valley older adult resources.
Quirky Ashland History

Come hear fascinating stories and see photos from Ashland’s past. From “You won’t believe what kids sold at the railroad depot” to "a fifth-generation local family business," you are sure to learn something new that will make you smile. Longtime Ashland resident and founder of WalkAshland.com, Peter Finkle, will recount these little-known tales, most from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Ashland Japanese Garden: Guided Walk for Seniors & Friends

Meet at front entrance of the Japanese Garden, facing Winburn Way

Join us for a free, guided walk of the beautiful Japanese Garden in Lithia Park. Enjoy the spring blossoms and learn about this world-class new addition to Ashland! The walk will be led by our own Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission Director, Michael Black. This walk will be held at a slow pace and stay on accessible paths, to accommodate any participants with limited mobility issues.
