AARP Smart Driver Course / Indoor ClassAARP Smart Driver
This classroom-based program will teach you proven safety strategies, current rules of the road and defensive driving techniques. You may be eligible to receive an insurance discount upon completing the course; consult your insurance agent for details. Pre-registration required: 541-488-5342.

FITNESS & MOVEMENT
Gentle Yoga / Indoor Class
The focus of this one-hour hatha yoga class is to increase strength, flexibility and balance while simultaneously alleviating stress and fatigue. Additional benefits of regular yoga practice include an overall sense of well-being and an increase in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Participants must be aware of their own capabilities in order to participate safely. Ability to get up and down from the floor is required. Each class will conclude with deep relaxation. Please bring your own yoga mat; other props will be provided. If public health guidelines change and indoor, in-person classes are not possible, this class will move to Zoom.

NEW! We Keep Dancing / Indoor Class
Uplift your spirits and body with Jazz and Broadway-style dances to Oldies music. Who says we can't learn to dance as we age? Students will learn several beginning-level fun dances with safe, gentle, easy and upbeat steps to some of your favorite songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. For those who want to keep going, there will be opportunities for joining the Broadway Boomers for Halloween and Christmas flash dance performances. Whether you haven't danced in years, or just want to start, this is the most fun way to exercise. This class is taught at the beginning level.

NEW! Personalized Strength & Balance Training / Indoor Class
Enjoy small group personal training that helps prevent and reverse physical declines associated with aging. Each session meets twice a week for a month, excluding holidays. This program focuses on muscle, cardio and bone health, plus incorporates cognitive sharpness, proprioception (body awareness) and optimal nutrition. Beyond the small-group instruction, each participant will get a customized plan and several breakout one-on-one sessions, to review goals and progress. While designed for most fitness levels, participants must be able to get up off the floor unassisted. Please bring a water bottle and yoga mat; instructor will provide other equipment. Add life to your years and years to your life!

Tai Chi / Indoor Class
Tai Chi is a moving meditation that strengthens bones and muscles, improves balance and increases flexibility. Qi Gong, the movement of energy through the body, is also incorporated. Join the class to learn or continue practicing Tai Chi!

  • Tai Chi 1 (Tuesdays): This class is for newcomers to Tai Chi.
  • Tai Chi 2 (Thursdays): This class is for those continuing to learn forms and continuing practice of Tai Chi. It is not appropriate for newcomers.
  • Tai Chi 3 (Mondays): This class is for continuing practice of Tai Chi for students who are well-versed in Tai Chi forms. Prior Tai Chi experience is required.

Senior Walkabouts / Outdoor Activity
Come enjoy some fresh air, exercise, and good company! A volunteer guide will lead this 8-week walking group in and around North Mountaiin Park. Walks will be held at a gentle pace and will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Routes will stay on accessible paths. Please meet in front of the Nature Center in North Mountain Park five minutes before start time. Walks will take place rain or shine; please dress accordingly. No dogs as leashes are a tripping hazard.
