11 17 2021 sub committee minutes

Notes from subcommittee on conciliatory services.
11/17/2021
Email from: Julie Gillis

Good morning Ann,

These notes in italics can serve as minutes for the December SERJ Commission Meeting.
-------
Four conciliation services have been contacted:
• Resolve-no answer, will follow up
• Ashland Oregon Law-does not do the work we are looking for so we are taking them off the list.
• John Ford-Strong potential (Julie met with him)
• Karen Nance-Strong potential (Julie and Anyania met with her and Will Luera)

We do know that Karen Nance will be drafting a proposal for services.

At the next SERJ meeting Anyania, Nataki, and I will discuss the need for clarity on where the conciliation services will "live." Such as: Is the CoA prepared to build a system with the appropriate tools, people, steps so that adequate conciliatory services can be supported and truly useful? Should these contractors prepare "pre" consultation for those systems prior to actually doing that work for the City? Where do current complaints live and may we see those/how many we have in preparation for building systems with a consultant?

We believe there is groundwork to do prior to engaging services to take on and resolve complaints.

If there are any other services we find and interview, we will amend these notes.

Subject: Re: Catching up

Anyania and I met on 10/29/21 at 4pm. We discussed vetting of some of the groups for conciliation. Of the group, one doesn't do that kind of work and we have appointments with two others to determine initial fit and alignment. We will report out at the upcoming meeting.
