You may have the feelings that wildfires are unstoppable after seeing the impact from the Almeda Fire in 2020, in addition to catastrophic losses in other communities throughout the west over recent years. However, decades of research and experience from past fires say wildfire loss is preventable, though wildfires themselves are inevitable. By taking individual responsibility to harden our homes against embers and flames, and mitigate flammable landscaping, we can avoid a major conflagration of buildings and homes in our town. Between April and July, take actions to reduce your home’s risks and effectively prepare for potential fire and smoke.
