Guided Walks in Lithia Park

Lithia Park Guided Walks

Park Walk

The 2024 walk season runs from May through the end of September, with walks taking place every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Please meet at the Lithia Park sign at the entrance to the park across from the downtown plaza.

Walks are led by passionate and knowledgeable volunteers and last between an hour and an hour and a half. Walks are free for everyone and cover the history, flora, and fauna of this great park.

Walks will be canceled if air quality levels are in the unhealthy range. Please check here for updates on the morning of the walks.

About the founder, Tom Foster:

Longtime Ashlander and APRC volunteer Tom Foster has been leading Lithia Park nature walks Tom Foster - Longtime APRC Volunteer since 1989, when he helped initiate the nature walk program. He takes satisfaction in showing locals and tourists the wildlife, plants and history of Lithia Park. “It’s our central park, it’s just a great place for a lot of different pursuits. A quiet walk or picnic, it’s a park which is important to people for many, I guess you could say, personal reasons,” Foster said. In 2015, Foster received the Ragland Award of Community Volunteerism.
  • Number of walks since 1989: 2,052
  • Number of people who have participated in the walks since 1989: 23,376
The figures above were last updated on December 18, 2023, with the conclusion of the 2023 (34th) season. Numbers continue to grow each year!
