Enterprise Zones in Ashland

With the support and encouragement of the City of Ashland, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners applied for and received an expansion of the commercial and industrially zoned properties in the Jackson County Enterprise Zone. Since the formation of the Jackson County Enterprise Zone in 2007 a total of seven traded sector businesses have received approval through the enterprise zone, pledging to create at least 226 new fulltime jobs along with investing over $32.3 million in new real property additions.

With the approval of Jackson County’s application for expansion of the enterprise zone eligible traded sector businesses in Ashland, Eagle Point and Talent can now apply for the short-term property tax exemption benefits available via the Jackson County Enterprise Zone.  Areas of Ashland now a part of the enterprise zone include the Croman Mill area, the airport area and the railroad district area. Click here for maps of the three zone nodes.

Eligible businesses can receive the standard three-year exemption for property taxes associated with an expansion which includes at least a ten percent increase in full time employees. New eligible businesses locating in the area of the Jackson County Enterprise Zone can apply for property tax benefits with the creation of new, full time jobs and real property investments. For those businesses paying annual non-mandatory compensation benefits to new employees equal to 150% of Jackson County’s average covered wage ($52,722) can receive an additional two years – for a total of five years – of property tax benefits based on their new real property investments.

The Jackson County Enterprise Zone was originally established in May 2007 with approval from the State of Oregon’s Business Oregon Department. The original application as approved included commercial and industrial properties in the City of Rogue River, Town of Butte Falls, and in unincorporated Jackson County in areas of White City and the Tolo area west of Central Point.
