Inspections

The safety of our citizens, visitors, buildings and natural resources are of utmost importance to the sustainability of our city. Ashland Fire & Rescue enforces the Oregon Fire Code and associated amendments as adopted by the Ashland Municipal Code to ensure this safety through inspections in government and business buildings, multi-family residential buildings and schools.

Some code requirements are generic to all buildings, and some are specific depending upon the use of the building. To view fire code requirements common to all buildings, click here. There are fees associated with all inspections. Please view the inspection fees handout for more information about applicable fees.

There are specific code requirements for most industries or buildings. Click on one of the following types of commercial occupancies below to gain more information:

Apartments include three units or greater that are connected in which individual units are not separately owned.  Residents are required to be provided with an emergency guide discussing the fire protection features of the building and a diagram.  Click on apartments for a sample guide.
