High Winds and Rain in Ashland

Downed Trees in Ashland UPDATE: Wind Advisory extended through 7 p.m. this evening, January 6. More at Ashland.News

The City of Ashland is currently under a high wind warning that will remain in place until 4 p.m today, January 5, 2023. Staff from Public Works and Electric have been working throughout the night and day to restore lost power and remove downed trees. Currently, at least 25 trees have fallen and are being removed when it is safe to do so. In some cases, streets are closed until trees can be removed.

Considerable rainfall overnight led to concern over city storm drains, all of which have been resolved. City staff is also monitoring the water level of Reeder Reservoir and will strive to keep the level at 60%. This will help to ensure the reservoir does not reach capacity, or overflow, and potentially effect drinking water and increase the risk of flooding the downtown area.
