Conditions for burning are still good up high above town and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will continue a controlled burn Monday in an area critical for reducing fire risk to our municipal water supply. For the safety of those recreating, the Missing Links Trail is closed once again. There are only 17 acres to finish in this unit and it will likely be completed at the end of Monday.
Also, Grayback Forestry, Inc. will again burn 2.5 miles west of Ashland. This property is part of a developing network of controlled burns that will create safer conditions for fire response and the community this summer. There's still a long way to go, but this is a critical piece!
Smoke from both controlled burns will again be highly visible. We want to thank everyone for your patience, we understand smoke is not always a pleasant sight after the fires in Southern Oregon but we are pressing forward with prescribed fire due to its significant benefits for nature and safety of the community. We appreciate all the fire professionals on the controlled burns who work so hard on our behalf.
