Two Controlled Burns Continue: Four Corners Trailhead and West of Ashland on Friday, April 16th
Update:Controlled burning went well today with crews completing over 40 acres on two different prescribe fires. Smoke is expected to move away from town, but conditions could change this evening. If you smell smoke; consider staying inside or wear an N-95 mask, close windows and turn on air filters. Visit smokewiseashland.org for health recommendations.
Tomorrow and Saturday: Controlled burning continues south of Four Corners Trailhead and 2.5 miles west of downtown Ashland on Friday, April 16th. No controlled burns are planned for Saturday, April 17th and all trails will be open. Missing Links Trail Closed: The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will continue managing a controlled burn in the Ashland watershed in an area important for improving wildlife habitat and protecting the municipal water supply. Missing Links Trail is closed for the health and safety of the public. Other trails around Four Corners may have smoke impacts including: Marty's and Catwalk Trails. Different trails to consider for a ride or hike can be found on our maps posted at ashlandwatershed.org The controlled burning has been slow going due to moist conditions. AFR partners would like to send a big thank you to all of the organizations helping get this work done. We also thank the community for understanding and cooperating as we do this important fuels reduction on the landscape.
West of Ashland: Grayback Forestry and Lomakatsi Restoration Project are continuing a controlled burn for increased protection of our community and drinking water. Smoke will be highly visible from all parts of the community.
We understand the community concern when seeing smoke on the mountain after the Southern Oregon fires. Fire teams are safely conducting controlled burning. AFR is committed to using one of our best tools, prescribed fire, so we can reduce wildfire risk for our community and restore healthy, resilient forests.

Smoke Impact
Recreation Impact: Missing Links trail is closed. We recommend avoiding the Four Corners Trailhead area where there will be heavy smoke.
Neighborhood Impact: You may smell smoke in the evening hours through early morning in neighborhoods on the western edge of town including Ashland Mine Road, Frank Hill Rd, Wrights Creek Drive neighborhoods, and at Valley View Drive and Highway 99 near Exit 19.
Smoke Visible: Smoke will be highly visible during the day from Ashland, Talent, and much of the valley. Please do not report smoke unless it is not located in the area of burn.
