Lower Red Queen and Section of Bandersnatch Trail Closed Briefly for Controlled Burn
TRAIL UPDATE: The Lower Red Queen Trail will remain closed for the rest of Friday, December 11th from the trailhead on Ashland Loop Road to the BTI Junction. Upper Bandersnatch below Alice is open this afternoon. On Saturday December 12th, all trails will be open.
On Friday, December 11th, a controlled burn managed by the City of Ashland will close the Lower Red Queen Trail from the Ashland Loop Road to the junction of BTI Trail and, a portion of Bandersnatch Trail (above Red Queen and below Alice). See the map posted below for the closure location. We could re-open the Lower Red Queen and portion of Bandersnatch trails in the afternoon. See the trail information page for updates.
Potential Smoke Impact High Some smoke impact is expected in the neighborhoods around the Ashland Loop Road and Terrace Street neighborhood. If you live off the Ashland Loop Road near Terrace Street, please exercise additional precautions including running an air purifier if available and closing windows and doors. Lower Red Queen and Section of Bandersnatch Closed on Friday, December 11th
The piles are located on 3 acres of rough terrain and steep slopes near homes. This project is a high priority for debris removal and maintenance for ongoing community wildfire safety. Controlled burning and thinning maintenance along the Lower Red Queen and Bandersnatch Trails are supported by the City of Ashland, Ashland Parks & Recreation and AFR with funding provided by the local watershed fund and Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board.
