In accordance with Governor Brown’s phased reopening plan, and Jackson County’s approval to enter Phase One of that plan, Ashland Parks and Recreation will begin the process of slowly reopening specific park amenities.  Effective Friday, May 15, 2020, the following parks and amenities will reopen to the public, with some guidelines for use:

• Community Skate Park located on Water Street, next to the recycling center
• The Dog Park located at 950 Perozzi St, adjacent to W Nevada St
• BMX Park located at 910 Perozzi St, near The Dog Park
• Sports courts (for non-contact sports):
  • Tennis courts
    • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
    • Hunter Park on Hunter Ct adjacent to Homes Ave
  • Pickleball courts
    • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
    • Helmen Elementary School on Helman St
  • Volleyball courts (restricted to one-on-one or doubles only)
    • Garfield Park on East Main and California St
    • Lithia Park on Winburn Way
  • Bocce Ball in Sherwood Park, located on Sherwood Ave adjacent to Ashland St

The Oak Knoll Golf Course was reopened on May 1 and is following strict public health guidelines for the safety of patrons and staff. The Golf Course Clubhouse will reopen following all OHA (Oregon Health Authority) guidelines outlined for retail and restaurants.

Following the Executive Order 20-25 from the Governor the following amenities will remain closed:

• Basketball Sport Courts
• Playgrounds
• Picnic Shelters and Structures
• APRC indoor facilities (The Grove, Nature Center, Senior Center)

 
The governor has outlined guidelines for responsible outdoor recreation during the Phase One reopening period. We encourage you to visit our website to review these guidelines, AshlandParksandRec.org. Some of the guidelines include:

• Physical distancing by maintaining six (6) feet between you and others
• Group size limitations of ten (10) people or less in parks
• Bring a mask to cover your nose and mouth
• Visit less crowded areas
• Visit during off-peak times
• Have a back-up plan

Remember, crowds lead to closures. It is important to protect the health and safety of all in our community. Ashland Parks and Recreation looks forward to welcoming our citizens back into our park spaces and recreational facilities as guidelines allow.
