Controlled Burning Continues Near Interstate 5 on Friday, December 13th
The Ashland Forest Resiliency has controlled burns planned for two separate locations on Friday, December 13th.
AFR is a ten-year stewardship project designed to reduce the risk of severe wildfire in the watershed and to protect water quality, older forests, wildlife, people, property and quality of life.
- Southeast of Ashland above Interstate 5, a controlled burn will continue. Smoke could be visible from I-5 and is not expected to have any road or trail impact.
- A second burn is located near the No Candies Trail. This higher elevation controlled burn is close to Panther Peak and not expected to have any smoke impact to roads or trails.
- Burn locations can be accessed through an online map. The color coded map shows active controlled burns in red, monitored burns in yellow and planned burns in blue.
- If you live close to a burn location, keep windows closed and if you smell smoke, follow health recommendations on Smokewise Ashland.
