Three Controlled Burns Planned for Wednesday, December 12th

Threes controlled burns are planned with the Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project for Wednesday, December 12th.
  1. A highly visible controlled burn is planned near Timberline Terrace, Paradise Lane and Siskiyou Mountain Park. Smoke will be visible from all parts of the community. Please avoid the TID ditch trail between Walker Ave and Park St, along with upper Siskiyou Mountain Park trails like White Rabbit, depending on smoke movement. Local neighborhoods from Elkader St east to Park St and down to Siskiyou Blvd could experience transient smoke through the day and into the evening. Keeping windows closed will greatly reduce or eliminate smoke exposure, as will using an N95 mask when outside if you smell smoke.
  2. The second burn will impact Bull Gap Trails area including upper Missing Links. Recreation trails will remain open but avoid the immediate area if you are sensitive to smoke. This burn is planned on 48 acres.
  3. A third smaller burn of 11 acres is planned on upper Tolman Creek Road above the granite quarry, and will be visible from Interstate 5 and some parts of town. Residents in the immediate area in the County outside Ashland and down Tolman to Green Meadows neighborhood could experience light smoke, especially in evening hours. Closing windows and staying inside to limit exposure is recommended, as is wearing an N95 mask outside as needed.
Please see our Smokewise Ashland page for information on staying healthy during smoke.

Thank you for your patience as we conduct controlled burns to reduce fire risk near town and in the Ashland watershed.
