Expect to see smoke close to town on Wednesday

A controlled burn will be highly visible above the middle of Ashland on Wednesday, with continuing burning in upper Wright's Creek further west of town as well. The closest burn will be directly above the Talent Irrigation District (TID) canal just east of Walker Avenue and south of Paradise Lane. Residents in the immediate area may smell smoke periodically during the day and into the evening. Anyone sensitive to smoke should avoid walking on the TID canal trail and keep windows shut until Thursday morning. The proximity to town and adjacent homes on the edge of the city make this a high priority area for reducing fire danger through use of controlled burning.

Workers from Lomakatsi Restoration Project will be staffing the burns and keeping an eye on smoke all day. Thank you for your tolerance of this critical work to improve fire safety in our community.
