Ashland Mayor Plans to Resign - Special Meeting January 31

City of Ashland Mayor, Julie Akins, announced Monday, January 23, 2023, via email to Council and staff that she will be resigning effective at the end of the day on Friday, January 27, 2023.
 
The Council will have 60 days from January 27 to select an Ashland citizen to fill the position. The appointed individual will serve in this role until the next election in November 2024. See the City Charter, ARTICLE III. ELECTIVE OFFICERS, Section 4. Vacancies.
 
Council will confirm the process to replace the Mayor at the next Regular Business Meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Following the February 7 meeting, additional information, including the application will be posted on the City website, ashland.or.us. City staff will collect applications and present to Council at a future Business Meeting.
