Extreme Heat Expected-Cooling Shelter Opening

A Cooling Shelter will be available Sunday June 26th.  The Shelter will be located at Pioneer Hall, located at 73 Winburn Way in Ashland.  The Shelter will be open from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM.  Animals will be allowed but must be kept on leashes.  The shelter will be staffed by community volunteers who have requested that guests be mindful of other's health needs, therefore masks will be provided on site.  Donations of water and cold foods are welcomed and will be accepted at the shelter location during hours of operation.

During the upcoming extreme weather event the City will be offering some additional resources to help citizens stay safe and find relief from the extreme conditions.

The Ashland Police Department will have water bottles available to those in need.  Officers will carry additional water bottles with them and will be looking for opportunities to assist those that might be vulnerable heat exhaustion or could benefit from some proactive assistance. Fire Station 1 will have water available for those in need.

The Ashland Parks and Recreation Department provides information about how to find respite in the parks during extreme heat.  Those resources can be found here: Find Respite in a Park
