On Wednesday, December 8th there will be multiple controlled burns to lower fire danger to the Ashland community and Ashland’s drinking water source.

HIGH ELEVATION SMOKE IMPACT
Waterline and Jabberwocky will experience some smoke but will not close, as will the Granite St side of the Ashland Loop Road/2060 Road about 1 mile up from the yellow gate and the Wonder Trail. Please avoid these areas on Wednesday if you are sensitive to smoke or have any concerns about smoke exposure. Neighboring homes on Terrace St, Glenview Dr, and Ashland Loop Road may smell occasional smoke.

Further burning will take place higher in the Ashland Watershed, conducted by the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest with help from Lomakatsi Restoration Project and Grayback Forestry, Inc. These burns will impact the Potlicker Trail so please avoid Potlicker on Wednesday. Smoke should not be a concern with this burn due to favorable winds forecasted for Wednesday.

Please close windows if you smell smoke. If you are smoke sensitive, smell smoke outside and have to be out, we advise wearing an N95 mask for protection. See www.smokewiseashland.org for more on smoke and health.

Thanks for your patience with controlled burning. We are excited to get this much work done in one day due to favorable conditions of wind blowing away from town, good smoke lift, and showers predicted on and off through the weekend into next week.
