June is Evacuation Planning Month!

Starting today, June 1st, the City is rolling out new content related to the Evacuation Time Estimate Study, completed this May by KLD Engineering. The cornerstone of the June push is a new website with links to four components of awareness, located at www.ashland.or.us/evacuate

Evacuation Zones are new this year and will make evacuation more orderly if you know your zone and practice exit routes. There are now 10 evacuation zones in Ashland. Knowing your alerts is an important next step to evacuation readiness, followed by making a plan and practicing it.

All addresses will receive a postcard in June showing their zone with basic tips for preparing to evacuate. Handouts are available at many Ashland locations and a door to door effort will cover key areas of the City, lead by the Ashland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
