On Friday, July 27, 2018, APRC will begin an open process for soliciting applications for
prospective DMP (Daniel Meyer Pool) Ad-hoc Advisory Subcommittee members. The application process will continue through Friday, August, 17, 2018. Are you an Ashland resident with an interest in the Daniel Meyer Pool?
“The DMP Ad-hoc Advisory Subcommittee will be formed by the Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission and will advise the Commission on the evaluation and the feasibility of planning and funding the Daniel Meyer Pool re-build,” stated APRC Director, Michael A. Black. “Up to eight subcommittee members will be appointed and will include at least two APRC staff, two Commissioners and the City of Ashland Finance Director, Mark Welch.”
Since the closure of the pool at Southern Oregon University in 2015, the community is lacking a competitive swimming pool in Ashland. In an effort to address this problem, APRC has offered extended pool hours/dates at the Daniel Meyer pool for the Ashland School District swim teams as well as recreational swimmers such as and including Rogue Valley Masters (RVM). These measures are temporary, as the Daniel Meyer Pool is aging, in need of constant repairs and will soon require replacement. A long-term solution is needed.
The subcommittee will be tasked with:
- A needs analysis of the Pool
- A plan to address the needs
- Funding to implement the plan
The anticipated start date for the subcommittee will be sometime in September, 2018, and continuing for six months to a year or until the duties of the subcommittee are fulfilled. The subcommittee will initially meet every month.
Interested applicants may apply
online or may pick up a hard copy application at The Grove, 1195 E Main St in Ashland. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 17. For general information, please call 541.488.5340 or email
