ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
A. Presentation on Tree Removal for Hosler Dam Failure Warning System Associate Engineer Pieter Smeenk reported that Squire and Associates was hired to construct the Hosler Dam Failure Warning System. One requirement for the project is a clear line of vision of the dam for detection in case of emergency. As such there is a possibility that some trees may need to be removed. The City will remove brush and woody debris first, then cut limbs and finally, if necessary, cut trees and burn them in the winter. Commission suggested using any cut trees as needed in the City-owned watershed.
B. Continued Discussion of Stand Density Reduction on City Owned Forest Lands Robertson requested the Commission formalize a philosophical statement and forward it to City Council as soon as possible.
The subcommittee formed last month to study additional needed information (Brock, Betlejewski, Main) passed out a table outlining survey / inventory considerations including the priority for each. Crosson noted that the current proposal seemed to come from a silvicultural perspective and thought there was a need to incorporate these survey / inventory considerations. Robertson requested this as an agenda for next meeting.
Commission began to review proposal draft #6 ending on Page 3.
