Ashland residents are encouraged to attend City Council meetings, which are held on the first and third Tuesdays of every month in the Civic Center Council Chambers at 1155 East Main Street. Regular Council meetings are televised on cable access television and can be viewed on channel 9 at 6:00 p.m. the night of the meeting. Upcoming agendas are available in the office of the City Recorder the Friday prior to the meeting and in Council Chamberís on the night of the meeting. Agenda items or information for council review must be submitted to the City Administration office no later than the Wednesday before the scheduled Council meeting. Citizens attending Council meetings may speak on any item on the agenda, unless it is the subject of a public hearing that has already closed. If you wish to speak, Speaker Request Forms are located in the Council Chamber. Completely fill out your name, address (no PO boxes), and the agenda on which you plan to speak. Forms need to be handed to the City Recorder as soon as possible in order to allow time to be recognized by the chair. You will be allowed to speak after being recognized by the chair, normally the mayor. Each speaker is given five minutes, and a timing device is used. A minimum of ten copies should be provided for any handouts submitted to the Council. Minutes are posted on the web site as soon after the meeting as possible.
