Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much can my vehicle purchase cost?
The vehicle price on your vehicle purchase agreement paperwork must be $30,000 or less. The Ashland Electric incentive is applied after you purchase the vehicle for less than $30,000. Vehicle purchase prices above $30,000 will not be eligible.
2. Why is there a $30,000 price cap?
The current incentive is partially funded by an equity-focused grant. The price cap exists to increase access to the most affordable vehicles. This program is designed to amplify the used EV market first, and the new vehicle market second. Income-limited residents primarily purchase used vehicles and providing more access to zero emissions vehicles is an important part of Ashland's Climate and Energy Action Plan (CEAP).
3. Why do I need to submit my registration?
We need your final registration to ensure your vehicle resides within Ashland Electric territory. Your registration address must match the utility service address. In most cases we can process your incentive without your final registration, but we still require it for verification purposes. Temporary tags and initial DMV paperwork are not eligible forms of documentation.
