After several years of teaching and volunteering for Parks and Recreation, Joel decided it was time to be a part of planning for the future of Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission programs. As an Ashland resident since 1976, with degrees in Recreation and Recreational Therapy, he has long been involved in utilizing the great recreation resources of this town. Among other visions, he hopes to help create dedicated pickleball courts to match the growing demand for this fast-growing sport. Joel also wants to ensure that APRC continues to provide great recreational opportunities for kids and others in a sustainable way. He is currently serving as the liaison to the Public Arts Commission.
Joel also represents the Commission on the Bee City USA Subcommittee, the Recreation Subcommittee and the Parks Arts Commission.
