Volunteers needed to help with set-up, day of event, and take down on Friday, April 3 (4-7pm) and Saturday, April 4 (various shifts available 8am-4pm).  Sign up now to reserve your place, earn community service hours and get first chance at bikes for sale!
Summer Youth Conservation Corps
Incoming 8th-12th graders

Earn 25 community service hours in four days during our summer Youth Conservation Corps working on Ashland trails, in parks and along creeks.  Session 1: June 8-11  Session 2: June 22-25  Session 3: July 6-9

Park Clean-ups
Middle & High School Students

Earn school community service hours removing invasive species and helping keep our parks pesticide free.  Sign up to be notified of Saturday morning clean-ups that are only two hours long. Gloves, tools, snacks provided.

We have ideas to help you complete a middle school or high school student project at our Nature Center or in our Parks.

Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool Opening

Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission invites you to beat the heat at Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool this summer!  The pool will open for lap swim on Monday, May 20 and for Senior and Rec Swim on Saturday, May 25.  Check out all our swim programs, swim lessons and view the calendar for the 2019 season at  Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool, an outdoor facility located in Hunter Park at 1705 Homes Avenue, will be open through early September 2019. The pool offers rec swim, lap swim, water fitness, swim lessons, swim camps and much more. After May 20, the pool can be reached directly at 541.488.0313.

The 10th Anniversary World’s Largest Swimming Lesson
Children ages 3 to 12 years old are invited to Daniel Meyer Pool on Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. for a FREE 30-minute introductory swim lesson focusing on water safety, comfort in the water, air recovery and basic movement in water.  Must pre-register online at by June 12, 5 p.m. 
Family Movies at the Lithia Park Bandshell

We are excited to host our first season of movies in the park, at the Butler Bandshell every 2nd and 4th Fri-day, May-September. Bring a blanket, stadium seats, and the whole family to enjoy an evening of family-friendly movies under the stars! The white roof of the Bandshell has proven an exceptional screen for our projections, and wireless “Silent Disco” headphones will be available to rent for crystal-clear audio. Con-cessions will be available as well.
2nd & 4th Fridays*. PG Movies start after Dusk (ap-proximately 8-8:30pm). $5 donation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ashland Parks Foundation. All ages. To vote for which PG rated movies you’d like to see, visit:

First Friday Silent Discos in the Park!

Join Silent Movement for their 4th summer of family-friendly events, as they return to the front of Lithia Park. Rent a pair of headphones and wander through downtown’s Art Walk, or dance with over 200 other attendees to multiple channels of Live DJ’s playing funky beats, while the little ones can make their own music on the interactive “Wiggle Wagon” which broadcasts on our Kid’s Channel.
First Fridays from 5-11pm*. $5 donation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ashland Parks Foundation. All ages.

Preschool Puppet Theater

Join puppets Brenda Bear and friends as they discover the wonders of our natural world. Snack and a hands-on craft activity will follow. Reservations are guaranteed only until 10:30am. Please arrive early as space and parking is limited (no late seating). Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the program. Nature Play Update – the Latest on this Exciting Project!

Have you heard? We’re planning a new Natural Playground at North Mountain Park. Community members, businesses, service clubs and agencies have all joined together to support this project. So, when will it be finished? And how can you help? Come join us for an update about our Nature Playground, a carefully designed play space that will enrich our community and support children’s physical and emotional development. This program will start at the Nature Center, with a short walk down to check out the proposed location. Please register online or call the NMP Nature Center at 541.488.6606.

WHAT: Learn about “nature play” and the exciting playground project planned for NMP

Star Party and Presentation: Constellations

Learn about summer constellations as well as mythology, how to locate constellations and some interesting types of objects found within these star patterns. Volunteers will set up telescopes in the NMP gardens to view planets, Open Clusters, Globular Star Clusters, Double Stars, Planetary Nebula and even a Galaxy or two. WHO: Star gazers of all ages
WHAT: A presentation about the summer constellations and view celestial objects with volunteers from the Southern Oregon Skywatchers
INSTRUCTOR: Daniel Otte is a teacher at Ashland Middle School and is an amateur astronomer with Southern Oregon Skywatchers.
