Each year, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) distributes a Material Recovery Report for each of the State of Oregon's 43 "waste sheds". The document link below is the Materials Recovery Report for the Jackson County waste shed with comparisons to previous years.
In 2012, Jackson County disposed of 142,338 tons of waste and recovered 108,563 tons of waste for a recovery rate of 43.3%, an increase of 1.7% from 2011 and 3.3% beyond the target goal rate set in 2009 of 40%.
The City of Ashland, through its franchise partnership with Recology Ashland Sanitary Service continues to support and assist the Ashland community in their waste prevention and recycling efforts through a variety of programs, services and educational opportunities.
