An update of the Southern Oregon University (SOU) Master Plan is required on a ten-year cycle. The Plan forms the basis for the campus' own internal physical planning, and as described in Section 18.64 of the Ashland Land Use Ordinance, is one basis for determining allowed uses on the campus.
On April 20, 2010 the Ashland City Council held a public hearing on the Southern Oregon University 2010-2020 Campus Master Plan. On May 18, 2010 the Council approved first reading of the ordinances adopting the Plan, and on June 1, 2010 the Council approved the final adoption of the ordinances.
