Filing Period:

First Day to File - June 3, 2010
Last Day to File - August 20, 2010 (4 p.m.)

Qualifications for Candidacy:
An elector is a registered voter in the State of Oregon and resides within the city limits.

City Election Officer:
All filings for City Office are processed through the City Recorder's Office. A person cannot file for more than one City Office Position during an election.

City Office Position has to be identified at time of filing.

Filing of Candidacy for Nomination by Prospective Petition:
Filing period for Candidacy for Nomination (SEL120) is no sooner than 8:00 a.m. on June 3, 2010.

Statement of Organization:
As of January 2008, the State of Oregon became the Filing Officer for all Contribution and Expenditures.  All required forms, including Statement of Organization are to be submitted electronically using the OreStar program available on the State website at www.oregonvotes.org.

All questions pertaining to Contribution and Expenditures should be directed to the State of Oregon Elections Division at (503) 986-1518

Filing of Candidacy for Nomination by Completed Petition:
Filing period is no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 20, 2010.

Signature sheets with the sufficient number of signatures are taken by the City Recorder to the County Elections Office for verification.

Petition is not considered Completed until signatures have been certified by the County Elections Division and received by the City Recorder for processing.

Petition for Nomination:
An approved petition for circulation is obtained from the City Recorder at the time of filing for candidacy. The petition will be signed by not fewer than twenty-five (25) qualified electors. No elector may sign more than one petition for each office to filled at the election.

ORS 221.180 (2) Procedure for nomination of candidates for city offices.
Notwithstanding ORS 249.037, if a city does not hold a nominating election for muniicpal offices, a nominating petition or declaration of candidacy shall be filed not sooner than the 15th day after the date of the primary election and not later than the 70th day before the date of the general election.  A candidate who is nominated under this subsection may withdraw candidacy under ORS 249.830.
