This project is a land use and transportation plan for what is commonly referred to in the City of Ashland (City) as the “Railroad Property”. Over half of the undeveloped commercially-zoned acreage in the plan area is owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Large portions of the property have recently come available for sale and commercially zoned land is in high demand. Potions of the Union Pacific property are contaminated, and are in the process of being cleaned-up according to a plan approved by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. The plan area is centrally located in the city limits, adjacent to Ashland’s Historic Railroad District, and within half of a mile of the downtown.
