2022 Bear Creek Salmon Festival at North Mountain Park

Bear Creek Salmon Festival After a Long "Dry" Spell, The Bear Creek Salmon Festival is Back!

It has been a rough two years, to say the least, but some good things are coming back!

At North Mountain Park, monarchs are back in our gardens, field trips are back in the spring, and our favorite family event will be coming back this October.

The Bear Creek Salmon Festival is returning to North Mountain Park!  After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission is hosting the 16th Bear Creek Salmon Festival, on Saturday, October 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Since our last Festival in 2019, everyone has experienced the cancelation of best-laid-plans and beloved events.  At North Mountain Park, we’ve missed planning activities with our environmental education partners. And while we continue to offer programs and work with volunteers to steward the park, reduced staffing means the Nature Center itself is still closed to the public.  We’ve missed our community!

That’s why we have re-convened our Bear Creek Salmon Festival Planning Committee, which includes colleagues from The Bureau of Land Management, Ashland Forest Resiliency Project, Recology and The Freshwater Trust. Together, we’re calling on our friends, performers, musicians, children’s educators and volunteers to team up in celebrating our watershed.

If you’ve missed this joyous community event as much as we have, come join us for a day of learning, music, crafts and culture. This free event is a fun-filled day for the whole family. Learn all about wildlife habitat and how we can all become better stewards of our watershed.

Local experts will be on hand with outdoor activities for all ages including interactive exhibits, kids’ activities, live animals, salmon education, Native American demonstrations, spin-casting and storytelling. Enjoy a lineup of outdoor musical entertainment or grab a delicious lunch from Fatsos Cheketos. (Please help us make this a Zero Waste event by bringing a reusable water bottle or cup.)

Admission is free!

Join us at North Mountain Park, 620 N Mountain Avenue in Ashland. To learn more, visit BearCreekSalmonFestival.net or call the North Mountain Park Nature Center at 541.488.6606.

We hope to see you at the Festival!
