Ashland Chamber of Commerce and Ashland Fire & Rescue collaborate on Emergency Preparedness
(Ashland, Ore.) — What began as a partnership many years ago to support wildfire safety and healthy forests in the Ashland Watershed has grown into a broadscale collaboration on smoke awareness and emergency preparedness. The Ashland Chamber and Ashland Fire & Rescue have developed resources to help visitors, residents, employees and businesses prepare for emergencies with useful information on smoke, evacuation, and emergency alerts.

Chris Chambers, Wildfire Division Chief, stated “We value our partnership with the Ashland Chamber because our businesses are the heart of our economic well-being, and we need them and our visitors to be prepared for emergencies. The more we’re prepared, the more resilient we are.”

Sandra Slattery, Executive Director of the Ashland Chamber, stated “The solid partnership we share with Ashland Fire & Rescue benefits our entire community as we co-develop programs to help our community become more resilient in the face of potential emergencies.”

A committee chaired by Sheila Clough, Mercy Flights and Greg White, Reinholdt & O’Harra Insurance, along with business owners and Ashland Fire & Rescue employees, have developed these resources that include tent cards, flyers, and videos that will direct people to this site. Additionally, our community partners Southern Oregon University, the Ashland School District, Asante, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival will all be sharing this site with their employees and customers to better inform the broader community of how they can be more informed and prepared.

Being prepared for any emergency is critically important, and we all have a part to play.
Take one step today in being more informed, aware and prepared by visiting ashlandchamber.com/prepare for links to all the critical sites to help you become prepared and resilient.
