Controlled Burning: Siskiyou Mountain Park and Ashland Loop Road

UPDATE: An additional controlled burn is planned one mile past the yellow gate at the end of Granite Street off USFS 2060 (Ashland Loop Road). A section of the 2060 Road and the Wonder Trail will have smoke impact this morning and into the early afternoon. Thank you for your patience with smoke as we conduct controlled burns to reduce risk for our drinking water supply.

On, Wednesday, March 16th, Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission will manage a pile burn for Siskiyou Mountain Park. Trails with potential smoke impact include White Rabbit, Upper Mike Uhtoff, Queen of Hearts and Looking Glass. In the evening hours, neighborhoods around Timberline and Pinecrest Terrace could be impacted by smoke. If you smell or see smoke from this controlled burn, please take precautions.

  1. Smokewise Ashland has resources to stay healthy when smoke is in the air.
  2. Check weather and smoke on the watershed camera
  3. We also have a free class tomorrow: How to Be Smokewise.
Due to the location close to town and trails, we expect some smoke impacts along watershed trails in Siskiyou Mountain Park and potential smoke from Tolman Creek Road to USFS 2060 Road, (Ashland Loop Road). Smoke may be visible from parts of town during the day if clearing allows. Controlled burn crews are completing the project to remove excess fuels for improved community wildfire safety and reduced risk for our drinking water supply.
